How it works
Type a colon and a few letters. The Slack and GitHub shortcodes you already know, like :tada, just work.
Two colons for everything that isn't an emoji: ::cmd → ⌘, ::em_dash → —, arrows, math, and currency.
Three colons search GIFs from KLIPY and paste your pick right where you're typing.
The details
Results re-rank by what you pick, so your go-to emoji float to the top.
Pick a default once and every hand and person emoji follows it.
:D becomes 😃, <3 becomes ❤️, and -> becomes →.
Shortcodes are localized in 14 of them, so :fuego works in Spanish and :chien in French. Corrections welcome.
We sweat the details: Liquid Glass on Tahoe, the system menu shadow, and light or dark to match your Mac.
Messages, Mail, Notes, Safari, Chrome, and pretty much anywhere else you type.
Privacy
Shortcodes are matched on-device, and there's no account to sign in to.
Full privacy details →:::, only your search words and country go to KLIPY“Totally free, no upgrades, and it works as advertised.”
The macOS picker (⌃⌘Space) is a separate window — open it, search, click, switch back. Mojito just appears next to your cursor as you type. Hit a colon, type a couple letters, arrow keys + Return to insert. No window, no mouse, no context switch.
Almost anywhere you can type — Mail, Notes, Messages, TextEdit, browsers. Out of the box it skips apps and sites with their own shortcode emoji (Slack, Discord, Notion, GitHub), plus terminals and code editors. Change the list in Settings → Exclusions.

Yes — unlike most software built today, Mojito is both useful and soulful. Have fun with it.
I built Mojito because Slack's :tada: → 🎉 should work everywhere on macOS, not just in Slack. It's free and open source.
